I’m super excited about the new Makers Studio at the Lost Ones Gallery in Ballarat. It’s such a beautiful building and an incredible space, definitely worth checking out if you’re in town! Leather worker Benny Mitchell and jeweller Rachel Grose will be working in there and are both so amazing at what they do. I’m also thrilled to have a selection of art up for sale on the walls of their new space. The official launch is from 2pm this Saturday 11th Jan at the gallery, come down and say hi!!

It’s great to be up and running in the Central Highlands Art Atlas now that I’m officially a Ballarat resident! Dogs for Kids with Disabilities 2018

When my legendary friends Benny & Lisa Frenkel from the amazing Saint Ernest  invited me to contribute an artwork to a fundraiser auction for such a great cause, I felt honoured beyond words. Dogs for Kids with Disabilities train assistance dogs for children with autism and other developmental disorders. It can cost up to $25,000 to raise one dog per child, and it’s up to families to contribute to the costs via fundraising.

I decided to paint a special piece of my beautiful and mischievous labrador pup Nugget for the occasion. He is painted on wood panelling and jigsawed out to represent a paste up. He sold for a few hundred dollars, a small amount in the grand scheme of things but still a positive step towards a great cause.

Finalist in the Nillumbik Prize 2018

Being nominated as a finalist in the 2018 Nillumbik Prize held at Montsalvat Barn Gallery was definitely a key highlight in my art career so far. My work ‘Long Gully’ made the cut and was exhibited amongst an incredible selection of works by other contemporary local artists. ‘Long Gully’ is a short three minute film incorporating snippets of found footage that my Grandfather Dava captured on the farm where I grew up, and where Dava still calls home a few paddocks across at ‘Chittagong.’ I then projected these images onto the walls of my now suburban home. The film explores themes around identity, home, loss and the intrigue of the Australian bush versus the urban environment.

Paste up workshops with Moreland City Council / Oxygen Youth Space in Coburg 2018

It was a great week of celebrations at open week for Oxygen Youth Space during the last week of March 2018, including running collaborative Paste up workshops for kids. It was a fun vibe in the makeshift studio with good tunes pumping and plenty of drawing and painting to be had. The best part was heading out to the wall space where the kids could choose their space and paste up their work! No more white walls here… they are now glowing with colour and creativity.

Beaufort Agricultural Society 142nd Annual Show 2017

I was thrilled to hear the news that my artwork ‘Hidden gems & memories’ had taken out best exhibit in the Beaufort Art show for 2017! Such a great surprise and honour to win the award in a place and community that is very close to my heart. Beaufort was and still is my second home, a place of family, growing up and now creating new memories in a different chapter of life. Im looking forward to making plenty more Beaufort inspired artwork contributions to this wonderful community in the future. Thanks for having me Beaufort, you are indeed very beautiful!

Nillumbik Artist’s Open Studios – November 2017

It was a real honor to be one of the ‘new kids on the block’ at this year’s Nillumbik Artists Open Studios program. What a great experience it was to open the studio doors & welcome people of all ages, both local and from further afield to check out my creative space. There were cups of tea & coffee, a wide array of ‘arnotts assortments’ & many refreshing cans of Aldi rivet ale all on offer for our guests. My hubby created a thriving cafe style tea station while I took the liberty of floating about the outdoor lane way gallery chatting to so many lovely people. I can’t wait to help create a great studio atmosphere in May next year! Hope to see you there 🙂

PoisonArts Festival kicks off on Saturday 28th October, midday until late. I will be painting a mural together with four amazing local artists. More info in BEAT Magazine.
